Block is add to your drwaing in the table blocks and increase size KB of current drwaingIf you explode this drwaing you obtain original objects (line, circle etc..) then use PURGE command for remove all unused blocksWith XREF you save memory, you see external drwaing in your drwaing and save KB of your drwaing because it is loaded from other dwg.
